how to tap on guitar is not really rocket science, it is what it is, and more commonly known as finger tapping Guitar players use their picking hand to tap on the guitar strings along with their fret fingers, tapping scales and notes required, creating some spacey like, rapid guitar licks.
How to tap on guitar requires patience and practice, because, when just starting out, your natural picking hand has to get used to a new action that is not quite used to.
Mostly used in rock guitar solos, and also used on acoustic guitar, but also bass guitarists use this technique often for their solos and bass rhythm.

After mentioning a lot of great solo guitar players, that shred up the ultimate solo and amaze us with dazzling licks and riffs, there are also great vocal guitarists that, even though i love seeing and hearing top guitarists tear up the frets on guitar, i also love the talents of vocal guitarists, jamming guitar and belting out lyrics. One of my best and all time favorites is the one and only Chris Cornell. The front-man, and heart of Soundgarden, to doing it alone, then front-man for Audioslave, to doing it alone again. This man does not stop, and for me, is the best and most talented vocal guitarist in the world.

Not only does it look cool and fancy, it shows that there are unlimited ways to
rip out an ultimate solo that looks far from, normal guitar playing.

All it takes is practice, try playing solo licks in these positions slowly at first, and you will find that it is no so hard, after a little practice.

Now, while you still have the neck shredding speed freaks on one side, you still got the wicked vocal guitarists, such as James Heifield, Jimi Hendrix, Chris Cornell, Billy Armstrong, Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, Shihads John Toogood, and so on...

The ability to play guitar while belting out vocals is definitely an awesome talent in itself. You could probably say its a different breed/style of guitarists, but once you have got your guitar playing firing on all cylinders, singing vocals as well, is definitely the next level of guitar.

Joe satriani, Steve vai, Jimi hendrix, Eddie van halen, Nuno bettencourt, Yngwie malmsteen and many others rank way up there when it comes to shredding up the the guitar like no other,

and also guitarist on fire, that have created influential songs of art, players such as Eric clapton, Brian may, Santana, B B King, Angus young, Slash, jimi page, "Dimebag" darrell, just to name a few, the list goes on and on.

What sets them apart is their original ability to sound their own, branching off in new directions that ultimately gives them there own uniqueness of playing the guitar like no one else can.

The best way i found to create your own original sound or material is to mix things up a bit, experiment with the boundaries of what you already know.

It could be little suttle experiments you do when playing your riffs, mellodies, lead breaks or even your own classical, that will create your own original unique style and sound that you can call your own, most of all though, it has to be catchy and authentic, that is only recognized as by you.

The right equipment
Sure, when you first started out, plucking a few strings on a hack-around guitar back in the day, Having the right equipment, or any equipment at all", didn't really seem to matter. But sooner or later, you start to get better, and realise that your going to need to get some good quality gear, to compliment your good quality guitar playing.

There are many good quality makes and models around, but i would recommended top shelf makes such as Ibanez, Fender,Gibson, ESP and some others, but on a slightly cheaper budget, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Yamaha's, or the peavey's, B C rich, etc... But go and compare them yourself as every ones style is different. You will probably find though, these puppies mentioned above will be more likely what you're after.

As for Amplifiers, you should be checking out Marshalls, Peaveys, Mesa boogies, fenders and Vox, But there are many very good sounding amps around. As for effects pedals, makes, such as Boss, Ibanez and Yamaha have a good, large variety of sound enhancing, multi effects pedals at the highest of quality to choose from, depending on what style you're playing guitar with .

Sooo your a guitarist, and whether you are just a begginer, or a neck lashing riff ripper, there are certainly tips and tricks out there for http://guitarfinger.com/to take you to the next level. We have heard the talents of satriani, van halen, hendrix, slash and so on, but there's a guitarist i have missed out on purpose, because i believe (and thats just my opinion) that he is the best in the world, perhaps ever, and that great guitar shredding genius is the one and only 'Steve Vai'... to this date there has never been anyone that has come even close to be compared to him. With his creative, unique, guitar playing with attitude style. His passion and warfare album (highly recommendable) to me is still untouchable, even to this day, i can not find a better instrumental guitarists album, and thats saying alot considering that album was released in 1990!

Sure Joe Satriani, yngwie malmsteen and the likes have great albums and are very telented guitarists indeed, but Steve Vai just seems to have that "WOW" factor and forever pushing the boundaries of extreme (and sometimes off key, but it still seems to work somehow) guitar playing. He not only tears that fret board to peices at the slightist of ease, he can also play some of the most beautiful, clean, heart felt classicals that are very technical to say the least. He is the full package that has inspired me to learning guitar even more and who knows, practice makes perfect, so keep practising, the next Steve Vai could be "YOU"
